Happy New Year's Everyone!

I have a quick question about what type of workout I should do to get rid of the extra flab on my stomach area. I've been using one of those balance balls (I'm not sure what they are actually called) to do sit ups. I feel like my abs are getting stronger, but I am not getting rid of the flab on top of my abs.

I do 25 minutes of cardio and strength training 4 times a week. I eat about 1800 to 2000 calories a day. Any suggestions on what I should try to focus on getting stomach smaller?

Thanks!

i think you'll need to put more info down (routine specifics, diet, height, weight)..

THose balls are called fitness or swiss balls.

Okay...here goes:

weight: 110
height: about 5'2
diet:
breakfast: a bowl of oatmeal and (eek) a cup of coffee
lunch: usually a turkey sandwhich w/ avocados on wheat or salad w/ vinigarette dressing
snack: luna bar or spring roll
dinner: usually noodles or pasta

routine:
Sun-W: 25 minutes on the elliptical
S: biceps--i usually do curls (3 sets of 12, 12.5 lbs), shoulders (I'm sorry, I don't know the proper terms for each exercise)-I usually sit on a bench and extend my arms out to the side, I do 3 sets of 12 at 7.5 lbs, triceps--I do 3 sets of 15 rope pulls at 25 lbs
M: back--3 sets of 12 the machine that looks like a rower but with weights--I do 30 lbs of that, chest--3 sets of 12 using a chest press machine (30 lbs), abs 3 sets of 25 curls using a fitness ball, lower back--3 sets using a machine that specifically works the lower back (3 sets of 15 at 40 lbs)
T: legs
W: repeat Sunday routine.

I hope that helps a little. Thanks again.

Hi!

You are actually asking the wrong question - sort of.

See, there is NO workout that is going to target extra flab in the stomach area. While it hasn't been proven beyond the remotest shadow of a doubt, virtually all fitness experts agree that you cannot spot reduce.

If there is fat remaining, the only way to get rid of it is to lose more fat. And you can't target that - the body burns fat in its own order. So you can do all the crunches, Swiss ball workouts, weighted ab machines in the world, and it won't reveal your abs - the place to look is your nutrition. Clean it up, tighten it up, ramp it down, and lose the fat, and eventually you will reveal those abs.

Hi Jeremy,
That's what I figured. I read somewhere that it was all about nutrition--but I wanted to give it a try and ask if someone knew a way to target the area.
Thanks for the help.
