Welcome to my depressing thread! :tucool:

A bit about myself, I am 19 and currently weigh in at 229 pounds with 33% body fat. I've been pretty chubby all my life but after I moved to the new city in the middle of high school I became depressed and gained a lot of weight throughout highschool.

At around the start of college, I tried to make some life style changes and I stopped gaining weight, I have been literally stuck at this weight for the past year. I was still not happy with my life style. I look at it right now and I've been binge eating all the time, eating little things like mini chocolate bars, candies, and so on. I am now in my second year of college.

My job consists primarly of sitting in front of a computer (Programming) but my job is very versatile and on some days I will do a lot of moving around, then on some the most moving I will do is my fingers punching away at the keyboard.

I've been learning all about health in the past year or so, but I finally sat down and decided to do something about it. I spent the good portion of the last week reading, taking notes and devising a system that could work for me.

I have not setup any menus, right now I am simply going with the flow and recording my intake of food. I know I will have to make changes as I go along but I feel it is the best way for me to learn about what my body needs to improve.

My initial goal is simple. I want to hit 200lb's. Once I hit this I gain aim for 180, then 160 until I feel I have hit an area where my body is in optimal, or atleast decent shape.

That's about all I have to say, if anyone actually ends up reading this journal I would appreciate your input mainly on what I am eating, I feel I am really lacking in this zone.

I've been playing DDR for quite awhile but yesterday my DDR CD got demolished. Sadly, it will not work anymore so I decided to pick up an old Taebo tape.

Yup, my mom got into that whole Taebo fad a few years back

At 10AM this morning, I popped in the Advanced Tape and did the entire 50 minute work out. It was KILLER. I was dripping sweat near the end but of course this is a good sign. I made a mistake and ate a bowl of cereal before this, I have learned that I should instead get some kind of low carb, high protein/fat meal in after my workout.

At 6PM I did a basic upper body workout on the weight machine. Triceps/Biceps/Chest basically. I will have to get used to this

I've been keeping a log of all my food, here's my log for today (Yes, my log is heavily influenced by Johns chart):

http://img78.exs.cx/img78/8725/chartjan0320050az.gif

I think I got a bit too much fat intake today. My mom made these little pork balls made from ground pork and I had them as a quick side dish before eating my soup. As for the soup, I had to use stats for canned soup as the tomato soup was home made so I'm pretty sure those stats are slightly skewed, owell.

I will probably eat one more thing at around 8PM as I have had way too little calories in my opinion.

Kind of hard to wake up this morning ... I kind of got addicted to CSI and watched it until 12:30 AM. Either way, I got up at 8AM and did a quick 10 minute workout. I just ate an omelette and taken a shower, getting ready for work.

I feel great. That morning workout really "loosened" me up and I love it

For work I'm going in from 9:30 - 3:30 so I'm bringing a little container of Turkey soup (home made!) so I shall enjoy that

I'm off to work now.

Day two successful!

Just got back from a nice 20 minute weight lifting workout, mostly did my abs. I did some floor exercises to work out my abs and then hit up the weight machine with some ab work followed by some chest work

I think I did a bit better today, I'm still trying to balance out a diet here:

I think I'm on a good set for the calories, but I will see exactly how that's working out in about a week

Today was my first time in nearly a month since I had chicken, I am so glad chicken is a healthy and protein-rich piece of meat because MMM MMM I love it. Stirred it up with some vegetables and a tiny bit of sauce (about a tea spoon) for a great dinner.

I think tomorow I will try and plan out an actual meal plan and see how that works out, although living with parents and a brother make it kind of hard to plan your own meals.

Woke up and did another Taebo workout. It seems to be working nicely for me as I really sweat up during the workout. I did it for about 30 minutes, showered and then ate my first meal of the day

I had 3 eggs in what was supposed to be omellette form, but my pan decided to be non-stick today and I ended up just making scrambled eggs

I'm thinking of tracking my Fibre/Sugar intake but I'll see how my current plan is working out

I'm going to grab some cereal in about an hour for lunch followed by a Salad later in the day most likely.

Decided to begin tracking my Fibre/Sugar intake anyways for tomorow, I did a bit of calculations for today and I'm a bit low on fibre but otherwise I think I'm good

http://img127.exs.cx/img127/4441/chartjan0520052pr.gif

Tried Salmon for the first time today in awhile, it was great. Wasn't a fan of the brown rice much though, going to see if I can spice it up a bit in the future.

No weights today and I got a bit of extra workout fighting with my little brother (Well, that's everyday :tucool: )

I have no clue what I'm going to eat for mid-day tomorow. I'm hoping my mom has some chicken hidden away or something

I'm no expert Volta, but I think your body is going to go into starvation mode eating only 1400-1500 calories a day. You don't want that, cause then everything you consume will be stored as fat.

Check out the forum here for weight loss, calculate your BMR and determine what amount of calories you should be eating.

You know, I was actually fearing that but I'm just not feeling hungry. I could probably use a bit more but right now I think it's best for me if I just see what happens in the next week or so, if I drop a bit too much I will raise my calorie intake.

But yeah, tomorow I'm going to try and get more food into me. My BMR with light exercise is 1800 last time I checked

Forgot about this journal as I spent most of the night reading the other parts of the board :o

Today I tried to upp my calorie intake a bit and I think it worked out pretty well. Not to pleased with my minimal protein intake and my high calorie intake though
http://img69.exs.cx/img69/688/chartjan0620057gz.gif

Woke up about 20 minutes ago and drank a protein shake. I didn't get much sleep due to some sleeping problems and just felt way to tired to do cardio at this point in time. Since I work in about an hour and I have yet to shower or anything I will probably do some cardio after work, as I am usually in a semi-fasted state when I leave work

School starts Monday, which is also the official second week of my fitness plan, yay!

Got home from work and to my surprise my mom bought a huge back of frozen chicken, lovely! So I decided to make orange chicken with some stir fry vegetables

I diced up the chicken into little cubes, poured fresh squeezed orange juice all over them, added some spicy thai sauce, some pepper, garlic, and some sherry cooking wine and yay! Random recipe orange chicken was created. Tasted awesome with the vegetables and I made a bit extra so I have some for lunch tomorow at work

I'm really having a hard time getting enough calories but I'm working my way up there, right now I'm going to try and aim for 1800. It's kind of low but definitely better then the 1400 I've been at mostly (minus yesterday)

It's all a learning process..

Today is done...
http://img157.exs.cx/img157/5790/chartjan0720052xp.gif

I didn't do any cardio because right after I came home from work I ate dinner and had to immediately leave with my family to do some shopping at the mall. Cinnabon, chinese food, big salty pretzels all over the place!

You don't realize how much temptations there are in the mall until you decide you shouldn't eat them!

I didn't get much calorie intake again but I think the fact I did very little exercise (except a lot of wakling) then it's alright, but I really don't like the fact I skipped it.

I also got some ALL BRAN cereal. With the power of Will Shatner, how could you deny eating this? It actually tastes decent and is pretty good compared to the other cereal I ate but I will switch it up a bit. I think I should throw in some berries with my all bran though, just for extra calories and more taste :D

Just had a hamburger, homemade mind you

Ground beef is not the best meat for me but it was extra lean and it was done on a george foreman grill we have so plenty of fat went out I'm sure. I wasn't sure how to record it has there were tons of options on www.nutritiondata.com for ground beef so I picked the one with "[Hamburger]" in it. Only made sense!

I'm going to go work out in about 10 minutes now that I ate dinner and attempt to make this my longest weigt lifting workout yet. I haven't really been pumping the iron enough so I think I will start getting into some routine today

Only 1117 calories so far (Which is from 4 meals) but I plan to have a protein shake after working out, followed by some walnuts later on and a peanut butter sandwich (organic peanut butter!)

Now off to pump that muscle :db:

Another day done..
http://img67.exs.cx/img67/6702/chartjan0820055gr.gif

Decided to skip the walnuts and made a nice shake. Berries, an orange, some milk and whey protein powder. Perfect booster for right after my weight lifting work out

Found out that the polish rye bread we've had in our home for my entire life is actually better then the "whole wheat" stuff from Dempsters in stores. Good! I love the rye bread :D

Calories a bit higher today which is good, the total might be more closer to 1800 due to not recording small things like the toppings on my burger (lettuce, onions, one slice of cheese) and a few cashews I munched down at work (less then an ounce, about 10 small ones)

Finally for kicks here's an image of the first day of my "diet". It was a day I decided to record what I eat but I had not actually started eating right. Meals spaced out a bunch, not a constant flow of energy..bah, this is what my eating was like prior to this fitness plan (minus the protein shake, I decided to try it out that day)
http://img12.exs.cx/img12/1688/chartold6um.gif

Monday is coming up which means two things:
- School
- My first weekly total. I'm going to count up all my calories and do some basic stats. I think it will be a good way to see how I'm doing

Finally:

Got up waaaaay to late today, 12pm. Did a 30 minute fasted cardio and then ate a much more fullfilling breakfast. Instead of just 2 eggs as an omellette I cut up some deli into little slices and threw it into my omellette

Plans for today:
- Get ready for another semester of school (pens, notebooks, etc..)
- Cook up some fish fillet I found in my freezer for dinner. Sidedish? Probably potatoes
- Figure out how I'm going to eat healthy and be able to go to school then work right after several times a week for the rest of the semester

Done with today ...

http://img99.exs.cx/img99/4332/chartjan0920055qd.gif

I was lacking in protein throughout the day so for my last meal I decided to cut up a left over beef patty from yesterday, threw in some deli and eated it up a bit on the pan. Ate it with a side of cottage cheese, yum

Had Perogi's for dinner and it was a bitch trying to find the nutritional data on them, why don't any sites have them? I went and found some data on them in a polish cookbook so I guess I'm close enough

Tomorow first day back in school, new semester and all. Oh joy

Aaaaand week 1 has come to a finish!

Had plenty of food today which can be seen as both good and bad. Brother made some pillsbury cookies and temptation took me over, but I only ate 2. Before I probably would have ate 7 or 8..

http://img40.exs.cx/img40/4104/chartjan1020058pl.gif

Did some basic weekly totals calculations. My deficit is a bit high but that's due to the low amount of calories I had in the earlier part of the week.
http://img90.exs.cx/img90/2857/totalweek14oe.gif

Made some oatmeal from the basic oats for tomorow so I don't have to cook that stuff up in the early morning. Also made a tuna sandwich and put together some of that rice/chicken left overs for dinner at work. For once, the majority of my meals for the next day are planned! :D

Now that I'm entering Week 2 I'm going to start updating this less just so it's not constantly on the front page of these forums so others can have a chance to be seen. I feel I'm in a comfortable postion with my diet now and these forums are always giving more info so if I'll stay up in the buzz.

Stayed away from this journal as promised but just dropped by to say today my weight was 219, that's the lowest I have been in MONTHS

I'm sure it will fluctuate a bit day in and day out but it's nice to be out of the 100kg club after being in it so long

I did a bit of cheating this week because my mom likes to make tempting food but otherwise I' m staying on track. Here's hoping for 200lb's, and then whatever comes next... :D
