im curious about something. im not sure if my body is adjusting to the new clean diet and activity im doing. i have been on this deal for about a month now. for the past 4 weeks i havent seen any real change in the wieght scale... but i believe some of my bloated look is going away. dont get me wrong ... my clothes are feeling better on me but i think most of my wieght shedding has been from water... not fat... but im not too sure.

now i think i may have reached a plateu. reason being is because it took for a cheat meal to release a lot of water in my body... which dropped me to about 4 pounds lower. that tells me that my body has been storing up to this point because it believes its in starvation... if this is the case i think its fair to say that my body also has been doing well mainting fat from fat storage.

they say your body adjusts to a diet.... levels off the metabolism...if you have been doing the same thing for about a month and changing your diet around somehow kicks your metabolism up again.

if wieght lifting and cardio increase your metablism how is it that your body regulates that metabolism by leveling it off for defense mode after a month of the same diet? it doesnt seem logical. will wieght lifting and cardio eventually win out in the long run ? how long will it take? they say perseverence is the key in any diet.... but if your body is naturally inclined to adjust and counter your diet by storing because it believes its in a starvation then perserverence is only hitting a brick wall.

im confused about this. anyone care to chime in and take about this please be free to do so.

how do i know for sure my body is adjusting? and if it is... what should i do differently? go ahead and cheat once a week with a large pizza? mmmmm

no such thing as starvation mode if youre eating. thats a myth. fyi

well what i ment was that your body starts storing because it thinks its going to starve when one is on a clean diet for sometime.

I was watching a University of Washington medical lecture about weight loss a few days ago; and the lecturer said that when the body goes into starvation mode it can drop calorie usage by as much as 12% by eliminating certain energy expenditures, such as fidgeting, twitching, and a slightly lower body tempurature.

What does your current diet look like and what type of cardio are you using? This can have a huge impact on your perceived "plateau". Have you been consistent with your diet and exercise? Tell us more about what you've done over the last month so we can evaluate more.

my diet:
everything portion size.... 5 to 6 meals a day.
chicken breasts, turkey patties (foreman grill), eggs, oatmeal, cottage cheese, peanut butter, whey protein, fish, yams, avacados, brown rice, fruits and vegetables, grazing snacks.... soy bean snack and vegatable crackers.

i take a pwo shake after cardio.... just water and whey and then sometimes eat some scrambles eggs or something else with fat and protein.... then 50 minutes after that i hit protein and carb meal.
rest of the day is the usual depending if i lift or not. usually keep lifting for seperate days. after i lift i take in a lot of protein and carbs.

for cardio im doing low intensity cardio (fast walking) on a fasted state for 45 minutes. 3 times a week.
for lifting i do it 4 times a week for 30 to 45 minutes.

im suppose to be taking in 2400 cals a day to loose about 1 to 2 pounds a week. my BMR to maintain my wieght is 3400.
sometimes i dont get in 2400 cals a day.

i dont know how my body is adjusting to this diet... its pretty damn intense considering what i used to be eating prior... about a month ago.

i used to eat pizza, burgers and fried chicken like nobodies bussiness.
hell id eat a large pizza in one sitting and a whole box of fried chicken in one sitting also... sometimes id do this 2 hours before i go to bed. bad habbits.

oh and ive been pretty damn consistent too and very determined. ive been tempted a lot and ive resisted all those times. i dont drink caffenated coke anymore... dont eat all the bread i used to etc.
i think the only downfall i have now is not getting in my required nutrients and cals a day because a clean diet for me is new so im trying to work it out to best suit me. eating clean and packing in that much cals is hard for me... you know for someone who is so used to eating bad and packing in an overload of cals a day.
