I not looking to get a six-pack right now, ( I know it is hard) but just want to get rid of the fat in my tummy and have a flat tummy. I have been doing 1 hour low intensity cardio with sensible diet for the past one month. So far I have reduced almost 35%. I find the progress in reduction is getting slower. The Fat is mostly located in the ABS area and I do not have fat in other parts of the body.

Do I have to do some weight training to loose the Abs fat? Thanks for your suggestions

sit ups

sit ups will do nothing, its all about bodyfat, lower-your body fat, your ab fat will go away, you cant spot reduce

sit ups

Rather then killing yourself doing 100 sit-ups a day hoping to get rid of the excess fat, I believe that it would be beneficial for you to do weight training regularly. Since you are already paying attention to nutrition (which personally I believe is most important in losing fat), doing weight training along with cardio (you've also been doing) will make the fat burning process faster.

But like Taffer mentioned in his thread earlier, you can't spot reduced. Believe me, I've tried that last year, as well as doing 100 sit ups daily (litterally...). The thing I learned, "Nutrition is your best weapon, and weight training and cardio are your ammunition" :D

By the way... Happy New Year...

In my experience you could actually REPLACE cardio with weight training and lose fat quicker (provided it is the right type of routine and your diet is in check).

Weight lifting is much more important than cardio.

Optimally you need to be doing weight lifting, cardio, and have a very clean diet.

So you lost 35% in one month?????????????? Or you got down to 35%?

You can't spot reduce, if you could make fat go away in one spot on your body we would all be getting rid of stomach fat, it doesn't happen.

Sound diet, decent training/cardio will do the work for you, and not just in your stomach. that's the only basic guidelines I can think off........ Nutrition is the most important, at least I think so.

Yup, I must agree though, weight lifting has more benefit compare to cardio when it comes to fat loss. I myself, I never hit the treadmill or any cardio stuff in the gym. I just go to the gym, hit the weights and do my cardio outside the gym, like walking, stair climbing etc...
But you must watch your diet, because nutrition is 90% while training is 10% when it comes to fat loss...

You might not be able to spot reduce fat, but you can make your stomach flatter looking. Stronger stomach muscles and doing stomach vacuums help.

Prob by working one area more you make it bigger. So more toned looking.

You can not spot reduce fat but you can spot build muscle. Crunchs and situps build muscle, something that couch potatoes and people locked to computers don't have!

Weight lifting is the most effective and efficient means of fat loss but diet is the prime change factor. So cut calories, balance macros, eat clean, drink plenty of water but Exercise with ever increasing resistance. Do crunchs and reverse crunchs slowly in low reps less than 12.

If you feel the need, do some cardio.

Acliff mentioned vacuum's- they can help as can a stronger core but in general, everybody has a six-pack, as said, you just have to get the fat down low enough to show. If you're lucky, that's at 10% BF. But it could b8 8, 6% etc depending on you. Lots of crunches and weighted ab work won't get you thin... just big abs.

People always ask about the stomach vaccum, so in a proactive manner... here is the link for those that don't know ;).
