Hello, first of all i like to run, im 22 years old and i have worked myself to run for 40 minutes every day in the treadmill and mantain my heart rate at 160 overall

Now im cuting, so my question is:

For cutting purposes:

Is it better to do a 3 day cardio (60 min) - 3 day weight lifting (with a quick warmup in cycle, treadmill, elliptical)

or

5 Day weight lifting (without repeating muscle groups and medium intensity lifting) plus 40 minute run everyday?

As with most things relating to fitness, there is no answer that works for everybody. That being said, I think that running every day for 40 minutes might be overkill. Seems like an invitation to lose quite a bit of muscle. For myself, I lift 4 days per week and do cardio 4 days a week. Sometimes I do cardio in the evening with lifting in the morning. Somedays I do cardio on non lifting days. Try something for a few weeks and if you are not satisfied with the results, switch it up.
*not trying to start another cardio debate, just saying what has worked for me.

Good luck

Jason

Not enough information.

My weight-lifting routine never changes just because I want to cut versus bulk. Weight-lifting should be for one set of goals: to build muscle and strength and metabolism. One shouldn't change the weight-lifting routine from bulk to cut. High reps+low weight does not change the effectiveness from "building to toning" as was once so advised.

Whenever I decide to start stripping fat as a major goal (as opposed to strictly building muscle) I only change my diet and start doing more cardio (or just start doing cardio, because I don't do it all the time anyway).

So with that said, your 2nd routine would be more optimal in my opinion IF you separate the two forms of exercise by 8-10 hours, and preferably more. That is what works best for me. OPTIMALLY a morning cardio session and evening weight-lifting workout would work. Even more optimal would be cardio on day one and weight-lifting on day 2. Both are hard to structure sometimes, depending on your preferred method of training and split system (if any; some prefer and achieve fantastic results from full body -- see Darden's/Jones' HIT). If you cannot hit the gym twice a day then your 1st routine would better suit my preferences. However I am not a fan of a 3-day split as I prefer a quick gym visit (25-35 minutes), hitting very hard only 2 muscles a day, 5 days a week.

Good post.

I will add to this also by saying that I have stripped massive amounts of fat with only 2 cardio sessions per week, but with a very good diet and high intensity (not HIT, but high) training routine. Of course it also depends on other factors like sleep quality and amount, and of course genetic predisposition. I know people who do zero cardio and have a crappy diet but maintain a fantastic 6-pack.

"Experimentation" is sometimes the best piece of advice.
