View Full Version : Cardio in the morning... and at night?
Ben Sat, February 14th, 2004, 11:44 AM I know all about the benefits of doing cardio in the morning, premeal, but i have been used to doing them with my regular lifting workouts at the gym. is it beneficial for fat-burning purposes to do my cardio twice a day? is it even beneficial at all?
thanks

Ben Sat, February 14th, 2004, 11:53 AM I was also wondering if it could perhaps be counterproductive to do it twice a day. I thought that maybe i would be wearing myself out? :db:
akm3 Sat, February 14th, 2004, 12:25 PM THIS IS MY OPINION AND I AM NOT A DOCTOR.
In my opinion, the human body of today (even atheletes) are completely sedentary compared to humans of even 150 years ago. I think our body can not only handle but respond well to an almost unlimited amount of cardio. (Not HIIT cardio, but slow go type 60% of max HR type cardio)
The downside is you'll also grind off a crapload of muscle, you'll burn off MORE fat.
THIS ENDS MY OPINION, PLEASE EVALUATE WITH CARE.

RM. Andersson Sat, February 14th, 2004, 12:47 PM How much muscle you waste will depend on what you eat and when. If you want to get rid of the fat fast it can help to do that much cardio. And if you eat very smart the muscle loss will not be that significant

Ben Sat, February 14th, 2004, 01:47 PM im still a beginner, so im not all up to date on my research. why exactly would i be losing muscle doing cardio? i want to build muscle and lose fat at the same time, but i'm only a teenager and cannot take supplements or follow a rigorous dieting schedule. i am doing the best that i can with a diet, and doing cardio and weights every day, but i am also careful to not do the same muscles too often. why would i lose muscle?

If you're a beginner and you start doing cardio twice a day, you'll be putting yourself at risk for overuse injuries. Step up to your routine gradually.
You might lose muscle become your body likes to eat its muscle. As a fuel, it's much easier to access than fat. Your body is lazy.
Read this article by Jeremy Likness. Some good info on cardio in there.
