I was wondering what supplements i might be able to take to help wit this (no drugz). brezman Wed, December 22nd, 2004, 01:50 AM Theres nothing wrong with drugs, otc things are for the most part absolutely worthless in dealing with acne. Make an appointment with a dermatologist and you will surely get help, trust me this is the best way to go about it. Noahf Wed, December 22nd, 2004, 02:58 AM Yeah, that's pretty much your best choice. He'll likely stick you on Retin A (facial treatment), and if that doesn't work take you up to minocycline (oral pill) which'll probably do the trick. Of course they're both perscription and your doctor will know much more aobut this than I anyway, so...yeah, hit up a doctor or dermotologist. taffer Wed, December 22nd, 2004, 03:35 AM i found fish oil worked wonders for my skin (and hair) also consider eating more fruit and vegies steven Wed, December 22nd, 2004, 09:34 AM if you really want to stop acne u should take pills. i had acne a few years ago and i just used clearasil face wash but didnt help much. i went on roaccutane for a while and now its all gone :D however when you're on it u get dry skin and acne flares up =x also, some people say its not true, but for me if you sleep earlier you reduce the risks of zits. i find that when i stay up all night or if i go out till the early morning i get a few (most likely cos of the oil buildup or something... not sure) but yeah. i wash my face all the time when im home though so it doesnt get too oily all the time. Jim Wed, December 22nd, 2004, 11:49 AM Don't wash your face like there's no tomorow, it just aggravates it. DO wash it twice a day, (unless it's particularly dirty, use common sense). Use something like Clearasil, but it also leaves your skin dry. If your not shaving yet you've got less hassle which is a good thing. But use a good moisturizer. Your biggest priority is getting body oil off your face but keeping it moisturized, it will bring down the spots. Oxy pads didn't work wonders for me.. but they might for you. You'll find you won't get rid of them completely because it's a part of life really, I'm 18 and got a few still, but you should get rid of most of them doing the above. Also eat plenty of fruit which should help, unless that's just a myth. It really depends on how bad it is, if its just a few they will go away on thier own with what I told you to do, if it's severe, medical help is needed. My friend went on some pills that got rid of them, gave by the doctor, but it was severe, and took 4 months. ocram40000 Wed, December 22nd, 2004, 10:41 PM i don't have it that bad, just by my sideburns , that kinda suckz cuz i gotta shave there every 2 days at most. I'm definately gettin enough vegetables (i'm a vegetarian) so hopefully that'll make up for not being able to get fish oil. Its nothing too bad right now (the ladies haven't noticed) its just its gettin worse so i'm worried. Thanks fer ur advice everybody dms2425 Wed, December 22nd, 2004, 11:31 PM I've had some acne problems for the past year , the best way to get rid of the acne is yeah to go to your derm and also eat healthy. If you do both your acne problem will be gone, oh another thing yeah wash your face like 2 maybe 3 times a day that will also help. One more thing , whatever you do dont take creatine, if your acne problem is really bad creatine will make it worse, well It did that for me. Jim Thu, December 23rd, 2004, 12:05 AM I wouldn't say go to a derm on the first outbreak of acne.. try products first (taking for granted there is no irratitation), and if they don't work then pay a visit, I don't know if you have to pay for service over there or not. LarryNC Thu, December 23rd, 2004, 04:49 AM All I had to do was drop all candy/junkfood/soda, drink alot of water, and they dissappeared, gave the same advice so many friends of mine and their acne all cleared up too! tensdanny Thu, December 23rd, 2004, 11:21 AM agree with taffer. Healthy, unsaturated fats are great for skin and hair. |
