I really don't want to start any problems here, so if anyone has anything negative to say on this topic please just go away.
John, I know you've had it rough the last several days! I just read one of your posts that you've turned down offers of donations towards the costs of running the site. Might I ask why? Tax reasons? :p I would guess there are a number of folks here who would be interested in contributing. It would be the least we can do.
I'm not suggesting a "donate here" button or anything like that. Just maybe if someone wanted to PayPal you a few bucks or somethin'...

Well I had the same thought before...
But is that a feasible solution over long term...
I think Sponsors are a good long term solution...
Actually that idea is implemented by bodybuilding.com
and they succeeded ... They sell from fat burners to whey... but
they are a success... bodybuilding.com is one of the best websites
I have ever seen.
So I think  John is doing good thing by accepting sponsors and he should continue to do so...
Good thought Andi I support U ;)

I think the ads are an excellent idea. I meant in addition to them.

Thanks Andi, and to all the others who have emailed/PM'd me with offers to donate money. :)
The reason I don't want to ask for or accept donations is because I love being able to bring my site and these forums to everyone without anyone worrying about paying for anything (even voluntary payments).
I honestly thought that the non-intrusive Google ads, and perhaps a couple of official sponsors who make products I actually use would be the best all-around solution; the ads bring in a little money to help reduce my costs, and they don't cost any of the people who visit my site a thing. I think that's why I got so irritated with the people who criticized my choices; I made the choices I made based on what I thought the people who visit my sites would want - to have my site and these forums remain free - not to line my pockets. If I wanted to capitalize on my transformation and these sites just to make a quick buck, I could easily do so... but I'd rather have the respect of those of you I've come to know as my friends.
At the rate the sites are growing maybe at some point I'll have no choice but to accept donations, but I don't see that happening. So thanks again, but please keep your money and keep visiting! :)

John, what you are doing is very noble and speaks volumes about your character. I would want it the same way if I was in your position. I would make it a goal that no one would pay. However, you might just be impacting my life in a way that extends it for decades. There is no way I'm going to give up at this point. And I owe this to you. And that's why I would want to help. I respect your decision to not except donations. But in the future, don't go through unnecessary hardships, because there are people who want to help.
Thanks again for the great site. sorry for the sappy extend my life comment, but whatever, I'm sure it's true.
