Hello Everyone,
I am new here. My user name is a play on words and also quite true. I have got a lot of weight to lose, 150 pounds!!! I do not want to only lose weight. I want to tone muscles and get fit and stay that way. Years ago I found the key to prolonged weight loss, fitness and proper nutrition was essentially the program encouraged on this web site and forum. I used to weight train and exercise with a football player.

I am 51 years old and have a very low metabolism due to a life long low heart rate. Although I am sure most people would be envious of my HR I am rather frustrated by it. My resting HR is between 48 and 56.

My low HR has set up a strange sequence of problems. I am not hungry because my metabolism is low. Therefore I don't eat enough food in a day. As a result my metabolism is low.

I found the only solution to this problem is to exercise nearly everyday. Then I get hungry! :D However because I exercise I now run into not being able to eat enough calories! :(

So how does one get out of this strange problem?

BTW during and after I exercise my HR goes from a whopping 48-56 to 62-72! At least I can laugh at the ridiculousness of my situation. I also find that prolonged and vigorous exercise lowers my HR during and after exercise! :D So what can start as a good cardio workout can actually end up lowering my HR. Especially any cardio workout over 20 to 30 minutes.

Also when I get down to my ideal weight my HR will go down even further, 42-48.

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

I have read quite a bit of the information on this web site.

My doctor is aware of my low HR as well.

Thanks!
Lorraine
