Yeah, we know we're allowed fat in our meals, we know to choose fats that aren't over Saturated.

BUT.....

When you select your fat source, what percentage would you allow your fats to be of a saturated source? i.e. out of 10g of fat allowed, how much of that would be saturated?

Thanks all

Craig

When you select your fat source, what percentage would you allow your fats to be of a saturated source? i.e. out of 10g of fat allowed, how much of that would be saturated? For what it's worth, the USDA recommends no more than 10% of your calories come from saturated fat. So ( total calories per day * .10 ) / 9 is the "max" grams per day of saturated fat. But you should also keep in mind where the saturated fat comes from! There's two kinds of saturated fat, you can look 'em up :)

From what I read: the saturated fat in animals is bad. The saturated fat in plants/fish is OK. No matter where it's from, you want to limit it. I could be completely wrong on that, so do your own research to confirm it!

I don't know how much research went in to that, but it seemed like a decent number to start with!

Carbs and Protein both have 4 Calories per gram (some say closer to 4 1/2 but everyone basically sticks to 4)

Fat has 9 Calories per gram

Alcohol has 7 Calories per gram.
