I have gone from 210 pounds to 182 pounds in three months, but now i don't seem to be shifting any more, even though i have visible amounts of fat to lose.

Should I spend four weeks or so specifically concentrating on bulking up my muscle mass, then return to the diet with a raised metabolism.

...or should I stick with what i'm doing at the moment which is about 1600 calories a day with regular weight sessions and cardio?

Thanks.

1600 kcals per day has your metabolism at a stand-still I'd say.

Time to re-format your approach. I've no idea what your cardio/eating/meal breakdowns/workouts/frequency look like, but when results seem to cease it's time to change it up. Bulking isn't the only way to switch gears, you can still progress losing fat, but you have to know what to do.

Many people swear by the (10x bodyweight in lbs) calories rule for fat loss. While eating less calories than 10x your bodyweight may seem like a faster way to burn fat on the surface, it could well prevent your metabolism from reaching it's true potential. Try adding an extra 200 calories per day and see what happens. Maybe you're eating too late?

Agreed on the 10x part. I think that is way too low. Maybe it is okay for sedentary people, but not when you are exercising.

I would try 12x to 14x if you exercise regularly. The more you exercise, the higher the multiplier. Otherwise, you will lose muscle in the process.

At 182 lbs, that is 2,184 to 2,548 calories per day split over 5 to 8 meals.
