I just read on a Max-OT article that flyes (incline or otherwise) are not recommended when you are doing MAX-OT as they do not provide overload...it even go as far as saying that isolation exercises (e.g. preacher curls, concentration curls for biceps) are useless when you are on a MAX-OT program whose main objective is muscle overload at the least amount of time.
What are your takes on this guys? Thanks.

well they are "useless" on a max-ot style program, where you are going for big, heavy, compound lifts
if you do flyes, you probly wont be able to go as heavy and hit your chest with as much intensity
you can always put flyes into your routine if you want, just do more reps
i reckon cable crossovers are better than flyes anyway :D

I don't do max-ot but I push compound exercises. Flyes are good pre-exhausters for a bench press when you are doing high intensity exercises. They aren't useless and have their place as do the other exercises you mentioned.
