First question: If a gym takes a BF % test, and they only test on your arm, but you have insanely muscluar legs. (When I used to help my buddy clean the gym he works at, I would goof around pushing up 400lbs on one leg at 6-7 reps with medium difficulty)

Second Question: Lets say I have a big chest, and I can feel a bulge on my chest where my muscle starts, is there a way to keep the size of them while losing fat?

A gym should check a minimum of three measurements for men - Chest abdomen, and thigh. Women - tricep, Supralium and thigh. A more detailed measure is a 7 point check.

It is important to maintain muscle with weight training, but if you have fat in the area it goes with diet and should leave.

So basically when they check my BF % and they only did my arm, they were getting a wrong BF % number for me

The reason I asked about the fat thing is because, I have 26" thighs, 19" calves, 44-46" Chest, and like if I wear a really tight shirt, like I wear medium - large, and I put on a small/medium, and I walk in flex it looks like im a bodybuilder.

Like my best friend sister told me "Holy shit, if you could walk around like that all the time, the women would be getting wet from seeing you"

I benched like 200 @ 8 reps this last week and I never work on my chest..
I also can leg press with one leg 450lbs @ 6-8 Reps and not really have to push hard.

My whole fathers line has been generally broad chest, broad shoulders, have a natural V with insane leg powers...

From my reading yep they are measuring totally incorrectly if they're just using the regular calipers on your arms, but not chest/stomach/legs (at least 2 other spots). Who knows though maybe it was some other kind of measuring tool?

I am the same as you - when I get mine measured I get like zero fat on my legs and chest, but it's all in the gut!

Even though a one point caliper test does sound ridicolous, it might as well be correct. Probably not, but hey, there are people actually winning the lottery, and the odds of that is far less than getting an accurate measurement from a one spot caliper test.

You still haven't said anything about what number you got. I know I'm interested, as well as seeing a picture to see how accurate it might have been.

Lifting big weights doesn't have anything to do with low fat. Look at the strongest men in the world, most of them are fat as hell.

I don't really have any idea about what you're talking about regarding your chest, but to keep muscle while losing fat, make sure to lift weights and eat sensibly.

Yup. Take a look at Gene Rychlak (on the right) (http://www.scotmendelson.net/Gallery/BAScotGene_jpg.htm) . He's got the world's biggest bench press right now (with a bench shirt) at 965 pounds, and he looks like some fat couch potato.

Scot Mendelson, another world-class bencher, is the one on the left.

EDIT: Actually, I just read that Rychlak set a new record at 1005lbs!!! Un-friggin-real!

ill take a picture in a today or tommorow, but I am similar to John Stone gut and and breasts. However, my frame I believe is bigger.
I wasnt basing my low fat in calves on how much i can do, but on the fact I can barely pinch it

My next question is how low should I get on my BF% before I start gearing towards a powerlifting?

BTW: they said my BF% is 35%

You need to get down below 25% not to be overweight, below 19% to be toned, and below 12 to start seeing abs. Those are accepted estimates.

I have no idea where you should be to be a powerlifter, From the way some of them look you might start now. All choices are up to you. A mirror and pictures from front, side and back keep us honest.

Still don't understand the powerlifting part. But if you want to lose Body Fat, you need to set up a calorie defict. Go to sticky at top of this forum and work up your BMR add an activity factor and subtract from 500 to 1000 calories. Now look around site at nurition section and start eating "clean" food. I suggest you start drinking water maybe a gallon a day.

You seem to have a large frame carrying A good amount of fat. I would guess you need to drop 35 -50 lbs to achieve a respectable 12%.

Yeah, I don't understand that remark either

Polish, what area are you looking to really get into, because bodybuilding and powerlifting don't really go together.

If you're looking to be a powerlifter, you'll actually need to start gaining more size and muscle, not put yourself on a calorie deficit because if you did, you'd lose muscle along with that fat.

First thing i want to say rtestes is thank you for all the help you have given me.

Starting monday I am on a 800 Calorie Deficit.

My current goal is to get down to 17% BF, however my overall goal is to be a mixture of a powerlifter (in the sense of big muslces, big weights) and somewhat with low bf. Like overall I want to weight 230-240 at 15%BF

I dont care about my abs, I just want to see a flat stomach, so low BF% isnt my true goal.

I hope that makes sense more than it has (english isnt my first language)
