Hi let me tell you my story. I have been working out for 2 years and i am quite ripped. I'm 14 and in grade 9, me and my friends often have arm wrestles. I am in the best shape of all of em (25 lb dips, one arm pullups, benching 180... i weigh 165) but for some reason this isn't carrying over to my arm wrestling abilities. Does anyone know whot i should do to get good at arm wrestling?

***i kno this is kinda goofy, i'm just wondering tho

I dont know exacly what it is man, but I think is mostly technique... I have a friend that doesnt workout, he is scrawny, I weight about 20 lbs more than him, I workout everyday, I bench about 90lbs more than him, and he always beats me arm wrestling...

The only guy that I've seen beat him is some other dude about 5'2" 120lbs also scrawny as heck...

Wait a min, I have to google this....

I guess I was right after all... Didnt even have to search hard.

As was stated before, arm wrestling is not solely about the strength of your bicep. Knowing how to use your arm and body as a single unit will pay big dividends against a bigger and stronger opponent who does not know how to make his arm and body one when arm wrestling! The strongest competitor does not always win. Technique can overcome strength!

I'm pretty sure it's a lot of technique and general upper body strength. I don't know that getting your barbell curl strength up really high would help, but just generally working out with weights and getting stronger overall could help. Maybe improving forearm strength, shoulder, back, and chest would help...

Good post(s) Evil Hx Coupe - by the way where do you live? If that's you in the Avatar you look awfully familiar to me for some reason; I also know someone who goes by the name "Junior" around here. I have not seen him in a long time but he looks a lot like the dude in your Avatar... :)

I would suggest doing lots of internal rotations, external rotations, and cuban presses, in combination with military presses, curls, dips, and wrist curls/extensions. I would think that rows, and russian twists would help too.

I'm sure that a ton of technique is involved, including little things like elbow placement, how you sit, where you place your feet, etc.

It is all in the technique. Strong forearms are the key for me. With the squeeze and the turn of the wrist.
