hello
this is my first post!
i've just starteda 3 day split program which includes:

Day 1 push (chest, shoulders, tris)
Day 2 Pull (Back, Bi)
Day 3 legs
i'm doing 8-10 reps, 3 sets
i also do 20 minutes of cardio right after the weights.
i got this program off of http://www.stumptuous.com/weights.html

i will be working out 3 days a week. BUT I'm wondering if i should workout four days a week. Or maybe even every other day. The lady who designed it said not to do it 2 days in a row.
i'm not trying to lose a lot of weight at this point. And i eat "clean", as all the people say. i'm obviously a bit confused, so i hope someone can help!!
thanks
Lindsay

Nothing wrong with working out 3 days. I would spread them out too and I would work legs in the middle and move back to the end of the week. You really don't want your back sore when you're trying to squat.

I agree with JMR.

Another thing you can try, if you feel that you really want to workout more is do something like a 3 on, 1 off or 3 on, 2 off type workout. Do your three workouts, rest two days, then do the three workouts again. You would be working out for 5/7 days of the "week"

Sounds like a good workout for that. I would try and add some abs in. I like to do abs after my back.

That workout is probably fine. If it's really intense and you're lifting heavy then not doing it 2 days in a row is probably good advice.

Frequency can depend a lot on intensity. The more experienced I get at making my workouts more and more intense, the lower my workout frequency seems to become, and the better my results seem to come as well. I'm currently training each bodypart around 10 days in between each other actually (not working out every 10 days, but if I do chest today I might hit chest again in 10 days, even though I might hit back in a couple of days).

Me too! I do back and abs together as well.

BTW I love your screen name -- "JuiceFree" -- nice. :)

I do a 2-day split fullbody
Cardio Mon-wed.-Fri

Weights tue-thurs
I do all body parts but I focus more on Arms-Abs-Calfs on tues and Shoulders-Back/chest-Legs on thursday..

I also try to do a sort of super set.. like work bicep and then tricep..back and forward until I can't do anymore.. and then chest presses and then chest pull(not sure what you call it.. but you pull the weight to you)
So you are pushing and pulling the muscles.. Seems to be working great for me..(Dave Draper type workout)

I seem to have more energy and recover better with a 2-day split.. But then I'm a old fart :)
