You're going to see two kinds of responses: "All bars are evil", "I love bars, they're awesome".

You're going to get both of those responses in this thread, I promise :)

Personally, I look at the sugar:carb ratio, if it's even approaching 1:2 I'll drop it on the floor. I have yet to find such a bar. Of course we might have different goals.

I'd also say to "eat some real food" rather than a bar. It's cheaper if nothing else! Compare 1 can of tuna to 1 bar...

This is the protein bar I usually buy. I think it's great. I prefer powder, but places like school force me to eat bars every now and then.

ya, thats pretty much the only reason I do buy them...they sell them at my school, and its real easy to mob one when you are in a rush...

Even though they're relatively cheap, their sugar is way too high and their protein is way too low. Good if you're hiking and doing cardio and whatever and need a quick burst of energy, but not really a "bodybuilding" bar.

well, on it, it says, "to maximize recovery after workouts" and it seems to have a decent amount of protein in it...and not THAT much sugar...I mean, why else would it be protein plus? and be for cardio?

Labels say a lot of things

well, on it, it says, "to maximize recovery after workouts" ...I mean, why else would it be protein plus? and be for cardio? Come on now! The only part of the label worth reading is the nutritional info box. The rest of it is marketing spin and pretty picutres -- nothing more!

That little box with fat/carbs/protein, etc. is the only part of the wrapping you should be concerned with. If you need to know how much protein you should be getting, or how to get a good sugar spike, there are plenty of articles to read. Don't trust the label though.

Low? At 24 grams a serving, it's got more protein than a serving of my Pro-Rated whey, which is 22. Maybe you're thinking of normal Power Bars, which have 9.
