View Full Version : On my way, need some advice

So in the middle of June I had baby number two. At delivery I weighed 203, I am now at 163 and well on my way back down. My first goal is 150, and then 140 is my final goal. I had surgery about 12 weeks after I had the baby so, my progress was slightly stunted by it. Immediately following delivery I lost 18 pounds. I went home at 185, stayed there until I could get back to the gym and dieting. Once I started working out the weight seem to come off at about 1 to 1 1/2 pounds a week. This is somewhat frustrating, although due to current employment I can not get into the gym for two hours a day as I would like. I like to do one hour of cardio and 45 minutes of weight training, 15 minutes of stretching. I have been able to watch and control what I put into my mouth, especially since I feel it is the hardest thing for me to do.

OK, so the advice part, after using the advice of several on this website I decided to zigzag my calories to kick start my metabolism, it seems to be doing a great job. I am strict five days a week then on the weekends I ease up a bit (not too much). I have started splitting my training into two sessions, I do cardio and weights in the morning (0600) on an empty stomach, then at night (1900) a short cardio (20 minutes) followed by a short weight lifting routine (30 minutes). :spaz:

Does anyone think this may be too much at the gym? I just know my body and I know I need around two hours a day at the gym to get back to where I was pre-baby. What I am finding is, the weight is coming off but I am tired all the time. Can anyone suggest something for the lack of energy. I am eating around 1800-2000 calories during the week and 2000-2300 on the weekends. I seem to take the weight off during the week usually 3 pounds and then on the weekends I put on about two. But before I started this I was at a plateau. I know I am making progress but I would like to increase my weight loss.

Any questions? Or Suggestion?

Hey girlcop1, sorry I never saw this message!!!

Well I don't know much about the calorie zig-zagging, but in my personal opinion yes this is a lot of time in the gym. 2 hours a day, how many days a week? Just wondering.

I guess it really depends on what you're doing, but for example my weight-lifting sessions very rarely go over 35 minutes. I hit 2 bodyparts with heavy intensity and get out of there and drink a shake. :)

I suppose that if you're doing 45 minutes of low-intensity cardio as well that about an hour and a half would seem normal though. 2 hours just seems to be pushing it. Of course this is just one person's opinion, but hey you asked for it!! :D

I do cardio twice a day, a half hour in the morning, a half hour in the evening, ten minutes of stretching each time (at least), and I try to hit the weights twice for about twenty minutes each. Fortunately my arms respond with little to no training. My bottom half is very stubborn though. And believe me, I can be tough too, so no, I really did want an answer.

I lost another pound and a half this week, so I know it is working. I am just afraid of getting my body used to this and then not being able to keep up, and gaining it all back, that would bite. :D

I also like to talk while I am lifting, I probably spend a little more time in the gym because of that  I take longer rests between sets because I am still trying to get back into lifting after the baby. I am finding I can't lift nearly as much as before. But the good news is I am only 11 pounds away. :claphigh:
