Whilst i understand HIIT i was wondering, what do you guys do for your HIIT workout?
Also, if using a machine i.e. a bike or elyptical machiine do you guys set the HR to be reached on the machine or what? (just as at the gym i go to you can, set the target HR) although im not sure if u can set say 10% hr then after 1min 70% hr in which case itd be useless

i use a stationary bike, it has some pre-programed things in it, i do the "speed intervals" option, it just makes it harder/easier every minute, which is perfect for HIIT
also i use effort level's not heart rate, i think its far more effective, and easier to do too

I recently tried the HR interval training on a stationary bike and I didn't like it a bit. It increased the resistance until I got to my target HR and then kept it there for 3 mins. Then it reduced until it got to a lower target heartrate and kept it there for another 3 mins. And all the time getting to and from the different heartrates wasn't included. It was silly. I didn't mess with it too much to see if I could change the program, but I really doubt I can.
I've found the 'hill' program to be pretty good for automatic programs which can do interval.

I dont like using machines or computers to tell me how hard im working. I go down to the local oval or running track and do 30 sec sprints at maximal effort and 30 secs jogs at low to medium effort. It completely exausts me to the point where when I'm near the end of the workout and my maximal sprint is only just faster than a jog. Its pretty taxing on the body so I only so it this may a twice a week.
For a change I occasionaly use gym equipment or get out on my bike and do it which is pretty fun :jumping:
