When I'm doing Tricep Pushdowns, I usually don't go higher than parallel on the up movement. What about everybody else? It seems that when I go higher up, like on this picture it doesn't burn as much.http://www.exrx.net/AnimatedEx/Triceps/CBPushdown.gif

You want to go through the full range of motion, but I wouldn't go to the very top.. Stop just short of it so you keep the tension in your arm. Also, stop just before full lockout at the bottom to keep the tension.

Careful with EXRX.net. They have lots of animations with TERRIBLE form.

I also don't go much past parallel. The example you showed is the only one I have seen or read that showed something like that. Most tell you to go just past parallel.

But, kimfisher may have a point about going a little higher. I am going to try it on my next tricep day.

I go through the full range of motion while trying not to rock or cheat except maybe on the last one or two.

I stand a bit back from the rack and lean forward, so that I feel a good stretch at the top of the movement, and that ensures the burn when going all the way (or almost all the way) up. I also cheat a few positives at the end sometimes to get a few negatives, which REALLY increases the burn.

I say don't lean forward, you can lean head and watch hands. Hold elbows against sides. keep wrist stable. Pause when arms are straight down then slowly raise hands until elbows are comfortably bent or a little above pararell. Let the triceps do the work, do it slow. Keep face relaxed and breath

That guy is a gimp. I would be laughing if I saw someone at the gym doing them like that.

I go up just past parallel or till I think I am losing tension in the tris.

If you notice, after parallel his elbows come forward a little bit. This helps keep tension on his triceps.

You want to go all the way up, so that you can get the full stretch in your tricep. A full stretch allows your muscle to contract "better." The important part of the movement is the press down. At the bottom you should contract your tricep hard.

Also note that there is a difference in form depending on how heavy you are going:
