I have a holiday party at my firm later this week, and will be wearing a suit w/ tie or no tie, doesn't matter. The party environment will be a bunch of hip architects and designers and artists, so I want to dress in my suit in a cool way, not a white shirts with tie. I was thinking of getting a trendy vert. striped shirt to go with the dark charcoal grey suit I have, but have now recently heard that that style is kinda uncool now that everyone is doing it. What other ideas do people have? What's cool now?
Thanks for any advice.
Ps. I'm 30 and tall (6'5")

consider a polo neck shirt it's pretty old but stylish and relaxed all in one.

Hi,
Just keep it traditional, Vert Stripes on someone who's 6' 5" will make you look taller. Go for a neutral shirt and complementing tie. Get a shirt with a short cut collar and keep the knot of the tie quite 'fat' and wide.
Keeping it simple will be timeless never go out of fashion and the collar and knot of the tie will keep it more up to date.
Fresh cut hair......clean shoes...suited and booted.

I agree with Visteon. Look for a blue colored shirt. Most people will usually wear white. A blue shirt with a characol colored suit is amazing.
