View Full Version : "All The Whey"...?

I had a look at this company's site
- the product looks good and the price seems unreal...
: place "eye popping" smilie here :

So I have a couple questions:
(Mainly to john, but anyone else that wants to get involved feel free):

where did these guys come from?
- I never ran into them in any of my research, and apparently neither did John (and he probably did more research then I did...)

How do you feel about endorsing a product that wasn't a part of your "transformation"?
- wouldn't it be cool if "boca" meatless products contacted you?
- or "Snyders of Hanover"?
these are two products that you stuck with ALL the way through your transformation.

Are you really going to make this new sponsor your exclusive protein powder?
- taste is one thing, but long term affects to your gains is really what matters when judging a protein powder...
I would be uneasy completely switching brands flat out with a small "testing time period" when I have had good long term results from a particular brand that I had been using awhile.

Don't get me wrong, I am going to look into the cost of shipping to Canada, and I will definitely give this product a try! :tucool:
I am very happy they make a non-flavored whey isolate - this has been a major struggle for me to find in many of the major brands. (i react badly to sweetners, so I like to flavor my shakes naturally myself)

However, I am skeptical about anything that appears "under the radar" like these guys seem to...
and DAMN! - they need a new website BAD! :p
If I found that site out of the blue, it's "amateurish" appearance would turn me off.
I have a friend who is a great designer - maybe you can convince them to get it redone John! :spaz:
he did my business site, and as he is my fishing buddy, he did our "fishing" site aswell:

Hey Schteevie,

I'll do my best to answer your questions...

where did these guys come from?
They are a pretty small company. They do most of their advertising on forums like this one, so not many people know about them yet. My guess is that's one of the reasons they can keep their prices so low. Everyone has to start somewhere!

How do you feel about endorsing a product that wasn't a part of your "transformation"?
I have no problem with it. I only tried EAS for the first time a few months ago and also had no problem endorsing that product loud and clear - and EAS certainly didn't play a role in 95% of my transformation. I really love the way this product tastes, and the price is awesome. As for quality, I'll address that in your next question.

Are you really going to make this new sponsor your exclusive protein powder?
Sure am, and the reason is because it's the EXACT same protein that Optimum and other major bands use. Yep, only a few companies out there actually manufacture whey protein. They sell it to companies like Optimum, All The Whey, EAS and so on. Then those companies add flavoring and whatnot, but the protein in All The Whey's products is EXACTLY the same stuff that you'll find in Optimum's whey. That's why it was such an easy choice for me - it costs much less, tastes just as good, same protein -- a no brainier! :)

They need a new website BAD!
I'm the last person that should be criticizing an ugly web site :p, but I agree it's dated looking and could use a facelift. That's none of my concern, though, and it doesn't bother me in the least.

Hope this helps.

yep, most protein companies really just buy whey in bulk(50 pound sacks, etc), send it to a customizer plant/company that adds some flavoring, some BCAAs or other stuff to make it their "sekret f0rmul4" and then package it and sell it at ridiculous prices. Thats how Optimum runs! Most of the work these companies do is outsourced...

thnx for the quick response John!

That's interesting. I guess it really is a no brainer if this is the case.

If I can get good quality whey isolate for that cheap, sign me up! :claplow:

(as for your website - it has it's "home made" appeal, but with all the traffic you are getting - maybe it could use a face lift :tu:
- I am sure any number of designers (including my fishing buddy) would be happy to do it in exchange for credit and a link!

I'll almost 100% certain I'll be buying these when my current protein powder runs out. Hopefully whey isolate will be more palatable. I have one question though, what I currently have is unflavored powder, no chocolate or vanilla. This is absolutely great for mixing in grape or orange juice, a habit I'd like to continue. However I presume this is not a good combination with the chocolate (at least) flavored whey shakes. The caveat is that I have to drink it with a juice, since I have a major problem with drinking milk or milk like substances (mild childhood trauma, I decided to take a drink out of the faucet my parents were using to fill the water bed with while they had a treatment attachment on the faucet, my mom made me drink lots and lots of milk and I've never drank the liquid since, chocolate milk I'm fine with, cereal I'm fine with, oatmeal I'm fine with, but put a glass of milk in front of me and I will stare at it until it curdles!). So I"m in a bit of a quandary!

Which whey protein should I get? The plain, unflavored whey, used for juice shakes, or the flavored chocolate whey used for water shakes? which do you all prefer? It would seem that the unflavored is more versatile, does anyone have any tricks for making a chocolate/vanilla/strawberry shake with extra ingredients?

(A little off topic now, but heck) Just a quick comment on Johns "plain" site-- I'd say stick to the static content. It saves a lot of cpu, and although a database driven site would be easier to manage, update, and modify, the job of transforming everything from static to dynamic is a nightmare... :D The key to a successful site is that "killer app", and that's why people keep dropping by the site. Keep it up! :claplow:

Although I was mildly dissapointed when I saw the "ALL THE WHEY" message on your site, I think it's great that you're so careful about who you would accept as a sponsor. It's more than can be said for a lot of people in the supplements industry.

I would be careful though since I believe that your honesty and non-commercial image is one of the many reasons that you have such a large following - you come across as "real".

I think one of the key processes will be how you get your image across (I think subtlety may be the way forward?)

Dare I say that the main message on your website challenges this idea of subtlety? :o

I can't live without the 5lbs Chocolate Mint Optimum 100% Whey Protein for $28 at bodybuilding.com but I may try to use this brand for when I make chocolate peanut butter shakes. Something about mint and pb that dont mix. lol

As far as sponsers I wish you got rid of those ads by google. I dont need to see ads that link to http://www.miracleburn.com/ while I'm in the fat loss board. I loved the original site because you did everything natural. I found your site while looking into diet pills on bb message boards and your site was motivation to not go that route. I have learned so much from you and when this site came up I coulnt believe the things I would see in those google ads. I think i even saw one for pro-hormones once. I know it probably funds some of the hosting costs but it seems like a contradication to your training method. Sorry just my 2c

"I dont need to see ads that link to http://www.miracleburn.com/ (http://www.miracleburn.com/) while I'm in the fat loss board."

Then ignore them. Why is that so hard for people to do?

The Google ads are NOT official sponsors of this site and they help a great deal with the costs. My position on fat burners, pro-hormones and steroids is abundantly clear, but that does not mean I expect everyone to agree with me and avoid those products. Again, those ads are NOT official sponsors of my site and they are not going anywhere. If you can't enjoy the site with the ads, then go somewhere where there are none.

I don't want to hear another god damned word about the ads from anyone. I'm really starting to get pissed.
