I guess im a new member here and im gonna start my diet/workout today. Im about 5"11' 305 pounds, so I have quite a bit to lose. I have worked out before, but only a week or two at a time before I stopped. Over the past few days I have done the stairclimber, 20 minutes on days I don't lift weights, 12 minutes the days I do. I have access to a local gym which is pretty big, so I have a lot of options to choose from. I guess one of my questions is what is the most effective form of cardio (i know it is different for everybody, but stay with me here.. Treadmill, Elliptical, Upright bike, recumbent bike, stair climber..) All I know right now is that the stairclimber kills me, lol. I went ahead and got some Optimum Whey protein and some good multivitamins to aid me with my progress.

Im just overwhelmed by everything about this site, there is a LOT of inspiration to be found, and I'm just grateful to be able to be a part of a community like this.

Congrates on starting a new life style... :tu:

One form of Cardio most people neglect is 'Walking'...
People have very low opinion about that... Do any cardio
which is comfortable for you... but challenge your self...

I started 4 months back walking max at 3.6mph.. Now I can
walk at 5mph for 20 to 30 Minutes... (at 1% inclination)..

It is lot more challenging than jogging.... And doesn't hurt
your ankles, knees....

After 30Mins intense walk.. If you still feel like doing cardio
Do 15Mins of intense(*More no of reps not more resistance)
cardio on bicycle or Eliptical....

But I suggest you not to run... It is not good over long term
for us..

Do you cut back cardio on days that you lift weights?

so much a best form of cardio. Do something that you can maintain at a relatively hard pace for at least 20 mins. Every few weeks, switch up the type of cardio that you're doing and give your body a little variety.

Yeah, i reduce the cardio on the days i work out to 12 minutes

but now im looking through the max-ot program, would this work well for losing weight, or is this mostly just for building muscle?
